According to a study by the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts (HSLU), Swiss companies expect a sharp increase in cyberattacks over the next year. Four out of five anticipate a rise in economic crime. Cybercrime is growing much faster than traditional offences such as fraud or corruption, making it the biggest business risk.
Artificial intelligence plays a double role. Nearly half of companies see it as a tool to detect crimes, while two-thirds fear AI-driven fraud such as fake identities. The study also found that many firms are unprepared, with only half systematically assessing risks or understanding new cyber threats.
