As was evident at CES 2026, artificial intelligence is increasingly moving from the screen into the physical world. Physical AI, in which AI systems are connected to sensors, cameras, and mechanical controls, controls robots, drones, autonomous vehicles, and industrial machines.
Automotive manufacturers and technology companies presented humanoid robots, autonomous platforms, and AI-integrated machines for real-world tasks. Although enthusiasm is high, some industry representatives warn that the hype could outpace practical progress. Nevertheless, many experts are convinced that the fundamentals of physical AI are real and could transform sectors such as manufacturing and transportation.
