Amodei acknowledges that AI companies deserve criticism because they have so far failed to deliver fully on their big promises. Concrete results, he argues, would do more to build public trust than better communication. He also supports carefully designed AI regulation. Appropriate rules could reduce biological and cyber risks, curb the power of large AI companies, and at the same time leave room for open-weight models.
