I.AI Consulting & Training

The boom in AI data centers is facing increasing resistance. While tech companies continue expanding infrastructure for AI models and AI tools, many communities are pushing back against rising electricity and water consumption, noise, land use and lack of transparency. Several U.S. states are therefore considering restrictions, construction pauses or even bans on new facilities.

At the same time, companies are testing smaller, decentralized data centers, in some cases even near residential areas, to meet growing demand for computing power. The goal is to enable lower latency, faster AI services, better regional coverage and greater resilience. The development shows that AI growth is no longer just a technology issue, but has become a local political and environmental conflict.
