Experts agree that final exams need to be reformed to keep pace with the rapid development of generative AI. More and more students are using AI like a personal tutor – available around the clock and tailored to individual needs. At the same time, there are growing concerns about AI-enabled cheating and potential overdependence on the technology, which could weaken students’ critical thinking skills.
Traditional exam formats, such as essays and handwritten tests, are being questioned. Possible changes include oral assessments, stricter security measures, and faster grading. Authorities are already testing AI-based systems to speed up marking and improve accuracy. Exams are here to stay—but their format is likely to change significantly.
