At the India AI Impact Summit 2026, Arthur Mensch, co-founder and CEO of Mistral AI, said that artificial intelligence could replace more than half of today’s enterprise software. Companies, he explained, will increasingly build tailored, AI-powered applications instead of buying traditional SaaS solutions. While this shift creates major opportunities, it also requires strong infrastructure and a solid data foundation.
Mensch urged India to promote open-source AI to safeguard its digital sovereignty and warned about the risks of power being concentrated in the hands of a few major providers. At the same time, he highlighted India’s potential to become a global AI innovation hub, thanks to its talent and growing tech ecosystem.
