British startup ManticAI came in eighth place in the Metaculus Cup, outperforming many professional human forecasters in an international competition. Participants had to predict the outcomes of 60 real-world events – ranging from political developments to wildfires. ManticAI used various large language models to analyze data, simulate scenarios, and continuously update its forecasts.
While humans still have the edge in complex questions that require strong judgment, some believe AI could catch up by 2029. AI stands out for its persistence and ability to process vast amounts of data. Experts agree: the best forecasts of the future will come from humans and machines working together.
