Anthropic’s AI assistant Claude is seeing a rapid increase in paying customers. According to recent transaction data analysis, paid subscriptions more than doubled in early 2026. The strongest growth occurred between January and February, with many new and returning users signing up, primarily for the more affordable Pro plan.

This surge has been driven in part by targeted marketing and growing awareness of Claude’s features compared to competitors. Despite this success, Claude still lags behind larger rivals like ChatGPT in total user numbers, but its paying user base is showing steadily increasing engagement.
