Cloudflare has unveiled Kitesurf, a cloud-based browser designed specifically for AI agents rather than humans. Unlike traditional browsers, Kitesurf focuses on the needs of AI agents, including managing context windows, reducing token costs, improving performance and scaling efficiently.

According to Cloudflare, the browser uses significantly less CPU and memory than Chromium for common tasks such as taking screenshots and extracting HTML. At the same time, it introduces new security challenges, particularly prompt-injection attacks and other vulnerabilities targeting autonomous systems. Kitesurf reflects a broader shift toward infrastructure built for autonomous AI agents, which are increasingly able to browse the web, retrieve information and perform tasks independently.
