Coco Robotics, a Los Angeles-based startup specializing in last-mile delivery robots, has raised $80 million in funding. Investors include brothers Sam and Max Altman, both returning backers, as well as venture capital firms like Pelion Venture Partners and Offline Ventures. The funding total covers several rounds, some undisclosed, between 2021 and 2025.
Although Sam Altman personally invested, he wasn’t involved in Coco’s partnership with OpenAI. Thanks to that deal, OpenAI gains access to real-world data from Coco’s robots to help train its AI models. Since its founding in 2020, Coco has completed over 500,000 deliveries for clients like Subway and Wingstop.
