A new AI startup called Humans&, founded by former employees of Anthropic, Meta, OpenAI, xAI, and Google DeepMind, sees coordination as the next big challenge for AI beyond chatbots and basic tasks. Current models are excellent at answering questions from individual users, but struggle with prolonged teamwork, balancing competing priorities, and managing group decisions.
Humans& raised $480 million in seed funding to develop a novel foundation model for social intelligence and collaboration. This could improve or replace tools such as Slack or Google Docs. Using advanced training methods such as multi-agent and long-horizon reinforcement learning, the company aims to tackle complex workflows between humans and AI.
