DuckDuckGo has introduced a new feature that lets users hide AI-generated images from their search results. The privacy-focused search engine is responding to feedback from users who found AI images distracting or unhelpful during searches. The new filter can be found under the „Images“ tab, where a new “AI images” option allows users to choose whether to show or hide such content.
Alternatively, the setting can be enabled in the search preferences. DuckDuckGo uses open-source blocklists, like those from uBlockOrigin, to detect AI content. While not perfect, the filter significantly reduces the number of AI-generated images. More filters are planned.
