The European Commission has published two calls for proposals under the Horizon Europe programme ‘Digital, Industry and Space’. A total of €307.3 million will be made available to strengthen digital innovation and competitiveness in the EU. €221.8 million is earmarked for the development of reliable AI services and advanced data solutions, supporting areas such as robotics, quantum technologies, photonics and virtual worlds.
Over €40 million from this pot is earmarked for the Open Internet Stack Initiative to strengthen digital sovereignty. An additional €85.5 million will be used to finance strategic autonomy in future technologies such as next-generation AI agents, industrial and service robotics, and new sensor materials.
