Europe is becoming increasingly important as a destination for AI professionals, even though the United States and India continue to dominate globally. A study by Interface, based on data from 1.6 million AI professionals, finds that Ireland, Germany, and the Netherlands are getting especially attractive. The United Kingdom ranks third worldwide with around 145,000 AI professionals, while Germany stands out with 17,000 AI engineers.
On a per-capita basis, smaller countries lead the way. Ireland ranks second globally after Singapore, ahead of Switzerland, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, and Denmark. Munich, Amsterdam, and Berlin are Europe’s strongest urban AI talent hubs. Paris remains one of Europe’s technology capitals, but France is struggling to retain international specialists.
