In early 2026, Chinese startup DroidUp introduced the robot Moya, which is being described as the world’s first biomimetic AI robot. It combines advanced robotics with artificial intelligence to replicate human traits. Moya features warm artificial skin, human-like facial expressions, and the ability to make eye contact. According to its developers, its walking style is 92 percent similar to that of a human, even though its movements still appear slightly artificial.
Cameras placed behind its eyes enable interactive responses. The robot is designed mainly for public spaces such as shopping malls or museums, rather than private homes. Its highly realistic appearance fascinates many people, but also feels unsettling, reigniting debates about humanoid machines and the uncanny valley effect. The price is around $173,000.
