Google has signed a 15-year power purchase agreement with German utility EnBW, securing 100 megawatts of electricity from the He Dreiht offshore wind farm in the North Sea. The deal will help power Google’s growing AI and cloud operations in Europe. It directly links the company’s rising energy demand to renewable sources and supports Google’s goal of operating on carbon-free energy around the clock by 2030.
At the same time, the agreement makes it easier to invest in offshore wind and provides long-term price stability. It also highlights how tech companies are increasingly relying on long-term clean energy contracts as the power needs of modern AI systems continue to grow.
