The Indeed AI at Work Report 2025 clearly shows that generative AI does not replace jobs, but fundamentally transforms them. At the core lies a distinct shift from operational execution towards steering, from pure implementation towards quality assurance, and from simple action towards informed decision-making.
- Hybrid division of work: In 40% of all skills, AI primarily takes over routine tasks. Humans retain control, steer processes, review outputs, and remain responsible. Full automation, at just 1%, clearly remains the exception.
- 46% of all job skills are affected: In software development, the figure rises to 81%. In data analysis, marketing and administration, it exceeds 70%. Care professions are significantly less affected at 21%. The human core remains especially relevant here.
- From doer to conductor: What matters is no longer who simply operates AI, but who orchestrates it effectively. Critical thinking, contextual understanding and strong competence in AI-supported quality control are in demand.
