Developer Indragie Karunaratne created the Mac app Context almost entirely using the AI tool Claude Code — writing only about 1,000 of the 20,000 lines of code himself. The app, built with Swift and SwiftUI, is designed for debugging MCP servers. Its full source code is available on GitHub. Unlike traditional development tools, Claude Code uses a simple, text-based interface instead of a typical IDE.
The AI performed especially well with user interface design but struggled with newer Swift features. Karunaratne emphasizes the importance of good preparation, clear instructions, and feedback loops. He believes AI will fundamentally change how software is developed.
