Meta has entered a partnership with AI startup Midjourney to license its advanced image and video generation technology. Meta CTO Alexandr Wang announced the collaboration, aiming to integrate Midjourney’s tools into Meta’s future AI models and products. With this move, Meta hopes to catch up with competitors like OpenAI and Google. Midjourney, known for its realistic visual style, operates fully independently.
The partnership follows Meta’s heavy investments in AI talent and infrastructure, and comes just two months after Midjourney was sued by Disney and Universal. The startup faces allegations of training its models on copyrighted works – accusations also directed at Meta. So far, courts have mostly ruled in favor of the tech companies.
