Ari Weinstein and Conrad Kramer, the creators of Apple’s Shortcuts app, are joining OpenAI after their company, Software Applications Incorporated, was acquired. They first became known for their automation tool Workflow, which was later purchased and further developed by Apple. Most recently, they worked on Sky, an AI app designed to deeply integrate natural language control into macOS. Sky combines chatbot capabilities with Mac system functions, enabling users to perform actions such as accessing emails, calendars, and apps through AI commands.
The acquisition suggests that ChatGPT may soon be more deeply integrated into macOS. Weinstein hopes to make his vision of an intuitive, AI-powered computer available to “hundreds of millions” of users.
