Swiss company Proton, known for its privacy-focused services like Proton Mail and Proton VPN, has just launched Lumo – an AI assistant built with privacy at its core. Lumo doesn’t store conversations or use prompts to train its models. It runs on open-source language models and uses Proton’s own encryption technology. The entire source code is publicly available.
All chats are deleted after each session, with no server-side storage. Lumo is available via web and app, supports file uploads, and integrates directly with Proton Drive. It fully complies with the EU’s GDPR. There are three pricing tiers, ranging from free to $12.99/month, each offering different features. At launch, Lumo supports five languages.
