Schwarz Digits plans another data center

Schwarz Digits plans to invest €5.6 billion in a large AI data centre in Dummerstorf, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. The facility is expected to reach a capacity of 240 megawatts by 2033 and could be expanded to up to one gigawatt by 2045. The project aims to strengthen Germany’s digital sovereignty and reduce its dependence on foreign providers of cloud and AI services.

The site benefits from abundant wind power, access to the high-voltage grid and favourable conditions for energy-efficient cooling. Schwarz Digits also plans to reuse waste heat as part of a partnership with Rostock’s municipal utilities. The data centre will primarily serve the Schwarz Group’s own digital ecosystem.
