I.AI Consulting & Training

As AI is driving up demand for data centres, electricity consumption could double by 2030. This would have significant consequences for power grids, costs and emissions unless growth is strategically managed. The World Economic Forum argues that AI must have a ‘positive net effect’ on the energy balance. It should therefore save more energy and resources system-wide than it consumes.

The corresponding framework identifies three levers: developing AI with a focus on efficiency, deploying it where it reduces emissions and increases productivity, and directing demand in a targeted and energy-conscious manner. Practical examples show how the expansion of AI with clean energy, transparency and cooperation can improve affordability, resilience and long-term competitiveness.
