Matthew McConaughey and Michael Caine are partnering with AI company ElevenLabs to license their voices for AI applications. McConaughey’s voice will be artificially generated to read the Spanish version of his newsletter Lyrics of Livin’, even though he doesn’t speak Spanish himself. Through ElevenLabs’ Iconic Marketplace, customers can license celebrity voices for their own AI projects.
Other collaborators include Liza Minnelli and Art Garfunkel, and the company also recreates voices of historical figures like John Wayne and Alan Turing. Caine emphasizes the positive potential, noting that AI voices are meant to enhance storytelling, not replace it, and to support the next generation of storytellers.
