Anthropic has announced that Claude Code subscribers will now have to pay extra to use third-party tools like OpenClaw, meaning these integrations are no longer included in the regular subscription. Since April 4, users can no longer apply their Claude Code quota to these external tools and must pay separately for usage beyond the core service.
The change is intended to account for increased infrastructure demands, as third-party integrations consume resources beyond typical levels. Anthropic said this initially applies to OpenClaw and will soon extend to additional external tools. The goal is to manage growth sustainably while prioritizing the core services.
