Apple’s iOS 26.4 introduces support for voice-based AI apps like ChatGPT in CarPlay. This marks a significant shift away from the previous Siri-only interaction model. With the latest ChatGPT app update, users can now access the chatbot directly through their car’s dashboard, but only via voice commands. Text input and images are disabled for safety reasons.
Conversations must be started manually, as there is no wake word. However, users can access recent chats. Control over vehicle or iPhone functions is not supported, meaning Siri remains the primary and central system assistant.
