Europe achieves outstanding results in research across artificial intelligence, drones, robotics, quantum technologies, and cybersecurity, establishing itself as one of the world’s leading scientific regions. However, it struggles to translate these innovations into large-scale commercial or military applications. While European research institutions and startups build strong technological foundations, the United States and other competitors are faster at turning breakthroughs into market-ready products.
Despite investment programs such as AGILE, fragmentation, limited funding, and complex regulation slow down implementation. As a result, Europe risks falling behind in global technological competition, even though its research capacity and talent base remain exceptionally strong.
