OpenAI is launching a special version of ChatGPT for teenagers aged 13 to 17. It offers stronger safety measures and age-appropriate features. Content involving suicide, self-harm, sexual topics and intimate relationships will be more strictly restricted. The model is also designed to support teenagers with learning and homework, rather than simply generating answers for them.

The launch comes amid growing concerns among parents and researchers that teenagers could become emotionally dependent on AI chatbots. OpenAI says its goal is to provide young users with useful technology while protecting them from inappropriate content and promoting healthy, age-appropriate interactions with AI.
